2022 Compact SUV of the Year: Nissan Rogue
We brought up the qualities of the new Rogue last year, and evidently those qualities once again won over our panel of automotive reviewers. The Nissan Rogue looks better than it used to and drives much more positively. Sure, the RAV4 is probably even more fun to drive and even it in turn is outclassed in that regard by the exciting-to-drive Mazda CX-5, but in the end, the consistency of the latest-generation Nissan Rogue appealed enough to the panel to place it ahead of all rivals.
The addition of a turbocharged 3-cylinder engine shouldn't change things for the Rogue, though. Let's bet that the fight will be tighter next year with the two Korean SUVs, the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson, that are now available in electrified flavours.

2022 Midsize SUV of the Year: Kia Telluride
For the second year in a row, the Kia Telluride wins in its midsize SUV category, and for the second time it gets bragging rights in the family over its close Hyundai cousin, the Palisade. The other finalists left behind was the Jeep Grand Cherokee/L, a fully refreshed model for 2022.
The quality of that Jeep model and the full roster of equipment included/available with the very solid Palisade speak to the sheer excellent of the Telluride, which continues to be appreciated by the automotive journalistic community. Meaning it wins awards left, right and centre.
Will that be the case a year from now? We'll see.
