2022 Compact/Midsize Pickup of the Year: Ford Maverick
Things aren’t quite as crazy in the midsize pickup segment, but there is growth there for sure, Plus, the arrival of two compact models on the market has spiced things in that category as well. We've lumped it all together this year for practical reasons, but it’s safe to say that if more small pickups come on the market, a new pickup truck category will be born.
Not too surprisingly, the newcomers made their mark, including the winner, the Ford Maverick. Price and the hybrid option were important factors, and the format was very appealing, as was the driving experience. This gave it the munitions to beat out the Hyundai Santa Cruz, which was also a sensation but costs quite a bit more.
In third place, a model that dominates the true mid-size segment, the Toyota Tacoma. We have two winners here, actually: the Maverick in the smaller category, the Tacoma in the larger one.

2022 Minivan of the Year: Toyota Sienna
With a trio like the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna and Kia Carnival to choose from, let's face it, there's no bad choice. However, it was the Toyota Sienna that seduced most of our jurors. As you can guess, its hybrid configuration and good gas mileage were definitely a big plus.
The Honda Odyssey, which has long been the dominant player of the category, has to settle for second place this year, followed closely by the Kia Carnival, a new model that was very well executed by the Korean manufacturer.
