Each year, vehicles chosen as finalists for the NACTOY (North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year) Awards are unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, and the big winners are announced early in the new year. Today the organization’s jury announced the initial list of 46 models that will do battle in the three categories.
That total includes 19 cars, 22 SUVs and 5 trucks.
The list is comprised of models that are either entirely new or have gotten major revisions this year. One of the particularities of the NACTOY awards is that there is no distinction made for price categories, which means you find Nissan’s Versa side-by-side with the Porsche 911, for example.
The next job for the jury members is to choose up to 12 models per category for the list of semi-finalists; from this three finalists in each category will be chosen and announced in LA, and the big winners will be revealed early in 2020.
