This article is the first in a series reviewing the 2003 CART season...although I'm apparently late to the 2003 review party source: PaddockTalk.com ~ Mike Sulka (NOTE: I've neverunderstood how a year-in-review can be done before the end
of the year.) St. Petersburg! After months of singing like a fat lady, the media chorus group performing
under the stage name "CART is Dead" was still acting surprised that 19 Champcars
were heard hitting high turbo-charged notes around St. Petersburg, Florida. The
Champcar World Series charged out of the Friday morning fog with a vengeance.
And the grand conductor, Chris Pook, had worked hard on the show up until the
final minute. When the house lights turned down and the curtain was raised, it
was revealed that Mr. Pook had done his job and that the band was ready to play.
